The Proper Outdoor Gear for Outdoor Activities

| January 1, 2011

We need a proper outdoor gear for our outdoor activities. It is good to have some guidance on what are the basic things to bring with us on our trip. This off course depends on the nature of the outdoor activity and the length of the trip. Having the wrong kind of gear can make our trip difficult and even dangerous at times. Out of the things required for any type of outdoor trip are proper backpack, tent, coat and footwear. When we choose these gear right we can have a safe adventure.

When choosing the right backpack we need to consider the size. If our trip is not longer than 2 days then we can choose to take a backpack of a smaller size. It can be roomy enough to store all of the necessary gear and at the same time it will not be too heavy on our shoulders. Off course we have to bear in mind not to over pack it. If it is made of material which is water resistant then we probably won’t need the special waterproof cover for it.

When choosing the tent we should also pay close attention of the size. It should be roomy enough to give us enough space for sleeping and additional space to keep our gear in it. Most tents come with seals for better rain protection. Having the proper coat is also essential. With waterproof coats we can be ready for rainy days. We can also buy waterproof spray to waterproof our favorite coat. The footwear we are going to take with us must be made of a strong material. If we feel comfortable in them then our movements can be easy and we will feel secure wearing them. We can also make them water resistant by spraying them with waterproof spray.

Getting The Right Tent For Your Next Camping Trip

| December 23, 2010

Almost everyone will agree that one of the most important things you can bring on a camping trip is your tent.  It provides you shelter from all of the different elements and things that we are exposed to by sleeping outdoors.  While camping can be a much needed retreat from the regular routines of life it can seem more like a nightmare if you have the wrong tent.  So while cheap camping tents are appealing to our budgets it’s important to make sure you get one that is going to work best for you.
The first thing you need to think about is how big of a tent do you need, not just how many people you need it to fit but also its actual weight.  If you are going to be hiking any sort of distance to where you are going to be pitching your tent you want to make sure you are going to be able to carry the weight.  Larger tents are going to be heavier so if you need a big tent and are hiking you definitely need to factor that in.  But you do need to also think about how many people it needs to fit and be realistic about it.  Do you pack a lot and tend to bring a lot with you?  Then those standard guidelines that the tents give on the box are probably not going to be enough.  It’s always safe to try for a size bigger.
Next, consider what the weather conditions are going to be like.  If there is any chance of rain make sure your tent is equipped to handle it.  Things like a rainfly, foot print and double sealed seams are essential to helping your tent keep you dry.  On the other hand, if it is going to be hot you need a tent that is lightweight and durable.  Canvas tents which are usually ideal for cooler weather can get very hot in the summer.  Make sure your tent has lots of windows and doors, as well as, areas for ventilation to make your tent cooler.
Camping can be a wonderful way to distress but don’t increase your stress by bringing the wrong tent with you.

Cool And Convinient Camping Mats

| December 5, 2010

A camping mat is one of the most important gears to be taken while out for some adventure trip. All these adventurous outings require a lot of hard work throughout the day. At the end of the day it becomes very necessary to give some much needed rest to the tired and aching body. A good camping mat or inflatable camping mat becomes indispensable during this time.

In the wilderness, sleeping on the ground, on rough stony ground can be quite difficult. But camping mats are a perfect solution to this problem. These lightweight mats are extremely portable and easy to use. When spread on the ground, they make a lovely cozy bed where a good sleep leaves one refreshed and rejuvenated in the morning.

These mats basically serve two functions; firstly, it provides the right amount of padding and insulation for the body to feel comfortable. Secondly, it defends a person from being bitten by insect or other ground animals. Along with a sleeping bag and a tent, the camping mat makes a complete arrangement for a warm and cozy night in the wilds.

Camping mats can be available in a lot of variety. One of the best camping mats is the self-inflating mats. It does not require any pumping and is ready to use in an instant. But such mats can be a bit heavy to carry. Foam mats are the lightest and are also reasonably priced. They are puncture resistant and has a good warming capacity but not as comfortable as the other mats. Ground sheets are the best option if one wants to travel extremely light.

Nylon and lightweight camping tarps are great substitutes for camping tents. The tarps are huge sheets of waterproof materials which provide adequate protection against harsh climatic conditions. They are lightweight, flexible and highly durable. While buying a tarp, it is advised to keep in mind about its weight and size. It should be large enough to more or less cover the camping spot and lightweight for easy portability.

Previously camping was not as easy as it is today. With all the wonderful gears available, it is more a fun trip now than a weary one. Invest on good camping gears if you are a regular camper and enjoy them for many years.

The 8 Person Camping Tent – for Social Camping

| September 19, 2010 | 0 Comments

For many people, happy childhood memories often include camping trips where the sights, sounds and smells of nature combine with the hearty exhaustion of a day well spent in the great outdoors. Camping trips afford us with the kind of adventure that one can only experience when taken outside what we call “civilization”.  And as those who have gone camping know, nature is best known through an immersive experience: the best way to explore the outdoors is not to dabble in it for a few hours only to end up fleeing to an off the road hotel when it gets dark, but to sleep amongst the stars. For many, the most enjoyable part of camping happens at night when people gather around the campfire to laugh and share stories, jokes and songs.

Whether with your family, a group of friends or a scouting group, camping can become an even more enjoyable experience when sharing a tent. Care and thought should be put into choosing a tent that will best suit the needs of your group. How many people are in your company? How much space do you need? How long will you be camping for? Do you plan on staying in only one place, or transferring between multiple sites throughout the course of your trip? Do you need the material to be light or more durable but also heavier?

A 6 to 8 person camping tent can fit everyone comfortably, with space for luggage and snacks. Some of the larger tents, such as the 8 person camping tent, are large enough that should there be less people than the maximum capacity the extra room can automatically be utilized as a common living space. Using foldable chairs and beds makes large tents truly multi-purpose in use and extremely comfortable. Some brands, such as the Coleman 8 person tent are made of material that is light, and durable as well as easy to assemble. The Coleman 8 person tent is able to maximize both practicability and comfort, making it a purchase worth investing in.
