Brighten Your Home With Area Rugs and Outdoor Sideboards
There are many ways to make your home feel more interesting and appear fresh and new.
Some of the latest fashions are to use an area rug or an outdoor sideboard.
An area rug is a rug that covers a small part of your floor. A good way of getting a cheap rug is to make a carpet remnant area rug. This is very simple and cheap if you do it the right way. Simply gather up your carpet remnants, or if you don’t have any try going to a local home store or fabric store and ask them for any carpet remnants or bits of thick fabric they have. You will find you can get the basic ingredients for your rug for just a few dollars. And then you will be able to sew them together and produce something everybody can enjoy. To increase the visibility of your rug and make it something all your family and friends can admire, put it somewhere that people spend a lot of time, in particular your front room.

Another great idea to make your home more interesting is to invest in sideboard furniture. A sideboard is the piece of furniture you find in dining areas. It is quite a traditional piece of furniture and many homes do not have one, but it is making something of a comeback in recent years. Sideboards are used to store cutlery, crockery, and even to increase the space you can use to serve food. So they are very versatile and helpful things. In recent years people have had the great idea of making outdoor sideboards for barbecues and garden meals.
When you choose an outdoor sideboard, try to find one which isn’t too big or heavy, and preferably one with wheels. That way you can easily move it indoors in case of bad weather.

Animal rugs- a simple shopping guide
Rugs – the carpets of yesteryear. The trend these days is fast moving away from carpets which are cumbersome, expensive and hard to clean to wooden or laminated floors with a few choice rugs scattered around for effect and a sense of comfort and style. Animal rugs are a very popular choice, with there being a few general types of animal rug available – those which are patterned in an animal style such as a black and white zebra rug, those which depict an animal such as rooster rugs, and those which are in the shape of an animal.
This article will focus upon patterned animal rugs, serving to briefly and simply guide you through the process of choosing an animal rug which will suit your home at a price that’s right.
When choosing animal rugs, consider the following:
Online or store – with the advance of the internet there are numerous shops which sell animal rugs. However, their main disadvantage is that you are unable to actually see and feel the texture and vividness of the colours etc. As a result, it is recommend that you combine these two aspects, physically visiting the store to see what size you want, design etc and then searching the internet upon your return home to see if the same product can be purchased online.
Size – animal rugs in general are vividly patterned and make a real statement. As a result, you need to make sure that your rug has some space all around the edges so that the rug itself is clearly demarcated.
Shape – some animal rugs come with additional features such as pretend heads or legs or come in an animal skin type of shape rather than a traditional square or rectangle. The choice of shape is a personal preference, however if you are opting for a head make sure that the standard is high enough for the piece to bear some semblance of reality.
Overall, animal rugs are the fashion of today – so don’t delay – get shopping today!

Take A Look At Tibetan rugs
Tibetan rugs have been made by craftsmen and women for thousands of years. They are used for wall hangings, seat cushions, horse saddles and carpets. The first known rugs were relatively simple in design using traditional Tibetan patterns. Several manufacturing sites where men and women created handmade rugs were common in Tibet before the Chinese communist takeover of the country. After that time most of the best Tibetan rugs were manufactured in Nepal and India. After the refugees taught the local people how to create the area rugs, the colors and patterns became more intricate and varied. Today most of the rugs that are exported to the West are still manufactured in Nepal. Some workshops have been opened in Tibet, but many of them do not export to the West but sell their crafts to the native people and to the Chinese.
Traditionally the creation of Tibetan rugs was done completely by hand on a loom. The wool called changpel from the highland sheep is used and spun into yarns of various colors. Most of the loom work is still done by hand, but much of the finish work is done my machine. Today besides the traditional palette of red and other dark colors, rugs can be found made from many colors and patterns. Workshops have been set up to create rugs specifically for the export to the West where Tibetan rugs are a prized and valued commodity. People use them for wall hangings, area rugs, carpets and many other uses. One of the largest customer bases is in the monasteries of the East. Monks use them for cushion and warmth during meditation and prayer. Several fine examples of Tibetan rugs can be found within the walls of the monasteries or Nepal, India and the surrounding areas. These rugs will continue to be examples of fine craftsmanship for many years to come.

Spruce up your home with a teal rug
Fall is here, and it is time for teal! Teal is a popular color in today’s modern decor, and your home will enjoy the smart look of a teal rug to grace any room in which it is placed. Blend the rug in with current decor, or use small teal rugs as accent rugs over a wood floor or contrasting carpet.
Small area rugs, or accent rugs, as they are sometimes called, are great for keeping high traffic areas clean, at the side of a bed to warm the toes on a frosty morning, or to catch spills and water below a kitchen sink.
Braided oval teal rugs work well in the kitchen as accent rugs or drip catchers and wash up well in the machine. A large braided rug gives a comfortable look to a living room with an accent rug of the same or contrasting color in front of a fireplace.
Consider teal rugs for your bathroom, an area rug for the floor with a bathmat and matching bath accessories. If you are a teacher or a homeroom parent, have you thought about a teal rug for a reading corner in the classroom? Matching pillows will make it cozy and a desirable place to read and study. College dorm rooms will seem more like home when fitted with a teal area rug. And, give your special one attending college a small teal rug to use as a sit-upon at sports events or picnics.
Rugs also come in several exciting textures – everything from a thick plush, down to the in-door-outdoor style. The plush features a cut pile, whereas the berber is looped. Many rugs mix both, and the tufted pile is most common throughout the world.
Whichever you choose, pay attention to care and maintenance instructions, and enjoy your new teal rug.
